Jewel Most Rare 2

Through the blazing, white hot fire I again my steps retrace.
The brilliance ever lures me back to see this wondrous place.
Once more I reach through whitest flame and hottest fire to hold
The purest jewel, the finest gem- my sacred Heart of Gold.
Cradling the priceless metal; living, growing still,
I walk back through the fire; I see afar the highest hill.
To the base, the middle, and then the cloud-ringed top I make my way.
My living Jewel begins to burn greater than the sun midday.
I know I cannot last long, the air too thin to breathe,
Yet now the light is spreading; it’s pouring, spinning out from me.
By miles, leagues, and ages, across the world it rushes forth
To show each soul the wondrous truth of how much one is worth.
Though my time is short, I feel them coming, all to look
Upon the light that spreads o’er moor and fen, o’er tree and rock and brook.
A moment and I’m nearly spent, the first few thousand make the top.
More and more keep coming, never, never do they stop.
I cannot catch my breath as they ring me all around.
They gaze in wonder at the golden jewel laid on the ground.
They try to raise me from the grass, but I’ve become a leaden weight.
For them there is still a chance, for me it is too late
I know they want to help me, but my last task is for them
They must learn the truth about this living, glowing gem
‘This gold came from my heart,’ I gasp, ‘It is time you knew
There is a jewel that lives and grows, inside of each of you!’
